Travel to Mussoorie
In 1820 Captain Young from the British army traveled to a beautiful location in the Garhwal Hills. He was so struck by the beauty of this place that he made it his home. This was the beginning of the beautiful hill resort we know as Mussoorie. The name, Mussoorie, is derived from the 'Mussoorie' plants, which are found here in large numbers. After its foundation, Mussoorie has developed into one of India's best-known hill resorts and is called the "Queen of Hill Stations" for its scenic beauty.
Mussoorie is located at a height of 2,500 meters in Himalayan range. It is home to institutions such as the Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of administration, where young Indian bureaucrats are trained.
With gracious bungalows, green gardens and hillsides and friendly people, Mussoorie is an ideal holiday destination to travel to, particularly in Summer when the plains become extremely hot.
Significant Hindu pilgrimage destinations such as Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Haridwar, Rishikesh are also not far from Mussoorie and therefore pilgrims and travellers often stop in Mussoorie enroute to these destinations.
 Travel attractions in Mussoorie:
Gun Hill- The second highest point in Mussoorie, Gun Hill offers spectacular panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges.
Other attractions include Lal Tibba View Point, Gun Hill Rope Way, Tibetan Refugee Centre, Kempty Falls, and Camel's Back Road for a pony ride.
Simply walking on the winding roads of Mussoorie, while breathing in the clear mountin air, browsing through the shops in the Mall and drinking a cup of hot tea while the mist settles on the hillsides of Mussoorie is a traveller's delight, and will make you want to travel to Mussoorie every summer
