Tea Garden - Travel to Hill Resort in Darjeeling

If you travel to North Eastern India and to the northern part of West Bengal you will reach the beautiful hill station of Darjeeling. The Maharajah of Sikkim gifted it to the then Governor-General Lord Bentinck "out of friendship" in 1835. Darjeeling today is known for its fine tea, its boarding schools and its scenic beauty.

The famous Toy train carries you up to Darjeeling, past acres of green tea estates, while the towering mountain Kunchenjunga can be seen on the horizon. Built by Franklin Prestage in 188, the diminutive locomotives and cabins make their way through some truly breathtaking scenery. The gentle pace of the train allows a traveller enough time to disembark, admire the view, pluck a few flowers and then jog gently back to climb aboard the train. The train travels up to Ghoom, the highest point on the railway line at 7407 feet and then descends to Darjeeling town.
